On behalf of the World Buiatrics Association and Veterinary Ireland, I would like to invite you to join with us in the XXIX World Buiatrics Congress (WBC) which will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 3-8 July 2016. Buiatrics is the study of cattle and their health and the World Congress is held every two years. In 2016 the WBC returns to Dublin after thirty years.
The Congress will be held over five days, bringing together world experts in cattle health and production systems: latest updates in diagnostics, animal health systems, animal welfare initiatives, food safety, zoonosis, mastitis control, parasitism, reproductive technologies and a wide range of infectious disease control programmes. We anticipate 2,500-3,000 delegates will attend from academia, research, general practice and government services branches of the veterinary profession as well as leading animal scientists.
Ireland is one of the most important food exporting nations in the World. It has a long standing reputation for the produce from the national cattle herd, so their health and welfare is of tremendous importance, for the animals themselves, the people who work with them and for the nation as a whole. With the successful eradication of brucellosis, the reduction in TB rates and the advent of Animal Health Ireland and the initiatives it has begun in control of non regulated diseases, Ireland is certainly in the vanguard of cattle health.
I look forward to welcoming you to Dublin!
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee
