Biography

Dr Jennie Pryce (BSc Hons and PhD from University of Edinburgh) is Principal Research Fellow of La Trobe University and a Senior Research Scientist in Biosciences Research Division of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources where she leads dairy genetics projects.

Previously, she was employed by the Scottish Agricultural College (1997-2001) and Livestock Improvement Corporation (New Zealand, 2001-2008). Her main areas of interest are genetic improvement of functional traits (especially female fertility and feed conversion efficiency), optimising breeding scheme design under genomic selection and development of dairy selection indices. Jennie is currently an editor of  Breeding and Genetics section of the Journal of Dairy Science and a member of the ICAR (International Committee on Animal Recording) working group on functional traits.

In Australia, Jennie sits on the Dairy Moving Forward Fertility group and Holstein Australia’s Breed Development and Conformation Committee. Jennie was born and raised in Shropshire (UK) and got a passion for dairy genetics through her hobby (obsession) which was breeding show calves.
