Biography

John is the Principal Veterinary Research Scientist at the National Dairy Research Centre (Teagasc, Moorepark) in Ireland: john.mee@teagasc.ie

Specialist status: Dr. Mee is a National (Veterinary Council of Ireland Recognised Specialist) and European (European College of Bovine Health Management Diplomate) board-accredited buiatrician.

Editorial boards: John is a member of the Editorial Boards of five journals; Animal Reproduction Science, Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Irish Veterinary Journal (Deputy Editor), Veterinary Science Development and The Scientific World Journal and he has been invited to referee for over 45 international bioscience journals.

Research and clinical interests: These currently include fetopathy, perinatology & calf health, dairy cow welfare, reproductive issues in dairy management systems, biosecurity and infectious diseases, and beef herd health. His research has been published in more than 100 papers and book chapters in some 25 peer-review journals and textbooks and he has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students.

Lecturing: Dr. Mee is a lecturer on seven under- and postgraduate courses in Ireland, the UK and in Hungary. He has delivered lectures and workshops by invite in 25 countries internationally, including numerous veterinary world congresses.

Professional experience: He has over 30 years’ experience in private and public veterinary practice and as a research programme leader of theriogenology and animal health and welfare projects working in Ireland, Australia and in New Zealand.
